Aurora Cellars Brings Home Big Awards From 2022 TEXSOM International Wine Competition

Date

The 2022 TEXSOM International Wine Competition has come and gone and with it – some big awards for Aurora Cellars! The Lake Leelanau winery was awarded one platinum medal, two silver medals, and three bronze medals during the 2022 competition.

This year, TEXSOM received more than 2,000 entries from 24 countries including France, Italy, and Argentina. In total, 14 Traverse City area wineries brought home 57 awards from one of the nation’s biggest wine competitions.

Earning a Platinum Medal for Aurora Cellars was the 2018 Medium Sweet Riesling. A long, drawn out season and late heat wave in 2018 made for a wealth of aromatic development in the crop. We were able to ferment the wine slowly at cooler temperatures and retain the natural residual sugars while keeping the alcohol low. The light sweetness and balanced acidity of this wine allows it to be the perfect wine to sip before a meal or compliment a wide variety of lighter cuisine.

Earning silver for the Northern Michigan winery was our 2020 Dry Riesling and our 2017 Blaufränkisch. Our Radiance, Grüner Veltliner and Luminous rounded out the awards for Aurora Cellars. Come into our tasting room and try all of these award winners for yourself! You won’t regret it!
