To help our Proprietor and Somm club members with their Spring 2022 Wine Club Allocation choices, Winemaker Drew Perry preselected a unique collection of a new vintage, an award winner, and a new sparkling wine.
2018 Medium Sweet Riesling
Stone fruits aromatics combine with peaches and limestone on the palate. A light sweetness on the finish with balanced acidity creates an ideal wine to sip before a meal and compliments a wide a variety of lighter cuisine.
The long drawn out season with a late heat wave made for a wealth of aromatic development in 2018. These conditions are perfect for Riesling complexity and development. The wine was fermented slowly at cooler temperatures and haulted to retain natural residual sugars and keep the alcohol low. Producing a wine this way allows you to enjoy expressive fruits whenever the moment strikes you.
Leora – New Sparkling
The newest sparkling wine is made from 100% Pinot Grigio inspired by our desire to create a sparkling wine similar in style to a Prosecco. In order to extract the cleanest juice possible, we lightly pressed the Pinot Grigio. Went through second fermentation to make sure bubbles present were more in line with a prosecco-style wine. The crisp, vibrant and robust aromas of a lightly spiced apple tart allows you to celebrate the moment with each sip.
2020 Pinot Noir – New Vintage
Spent 15 months in French Oak barrels. The classic Bing cherry with clove and vanilla notes makes it the perfect example of what the variety can produce. This new vintage spent 75% in second and third use and 25% new French oak. Winemaker Drew Perry explains The oak provides an excellent aging vessel so it isn’t just about the flavors the oak impacts but it is also how it ages in that vessel itself. It took more than a year for us to release because we thought it was at a really good point in its development and the aromatics are right where they need to be.
